Ace Hotel Sydney Takes Over Former Brick Factory in Surry Hills

Ace Hotel Sydney is the boutique hotel chain’s newest hotel opening in Sydney, Australia, designed by Flack Studio. Housed in Surry Hills’ historic Tyne House brick factory, the 264-room property features a ground floor restaurant, bar and cafe, and rooftop bar and restaurant.

The design of the hotel was heavily inspired by the cinematic color palette of the Australian landscape, particularly that of Surry Hills. Emphasis was placed on craftsmanship throughout, with many of the furnishings, artworks and interior details created uniquely for the project.

Furniture, lighting and joinery within the guest rooms were all custom designed by Flack Studio. As described by David Flack, founder of Flack Studio: “We wanted to preserve the creative, slightly renegade energy of the space since its origins as one of Australia’s early brickworks. We were committed to creating a warm space that brought together Australia’s cultural history with Ace’s unique, community cultivating approach to hospitality.”
